Town Basics
Creating a Town
On Project Freedom, towns require money to be created. This can be viewed at any time using /towny prices
. This amount should be 320 gold, which must be deposited in your bank account using the /bank deposit
command.
Once you have collected enough gold, you may create a new town. This is done using the /t new <name>
command, where <name> indicates your desired town name. If you wish to have a space in your town's name, you will need to use an underscore in its place.
Town Upkeep
All towns have a daily upkeep. The time in which the next cycle of upkeep is collected can be viewed using /towny time
. Towny upkeep depends on your towns level, which is based off of the number of residents your town has. To view your town's upkeep, you can use /towny prices
.
If you do not pay your upkeep in time, your town will become bankrupt, in which your access to the town is restricted until you pay your debts. In the extreme case that your town reaches its bankruptcy cap, your town will fall into ruin in which it is free to be pillaged by other players.
To prevent this, deposit money into your town's bank using the /t deposit #
command. If you need to withdraw money, you can use /t withdraw #
.
Town Claiming
Claiming new land for your town is essential to protecting you and your resident's buildings and valuables. Towny utilizes a chunk-based system, in which the size of one townblock is equal to a chunk, or a 16x16 block area. On PC, outlines of chunks can be viewed using F3+G
.
Claiming land also requires money, which will be 4 gold per townblock. To claim this land, you must have the money deposited in your town's bank, and use /t claim
while standing over an unclaimed chunk.
Towns have a maximum amount of allowed claimblocks, which is calculated by 100 claimblocks per resident, plus a potential bonus amount from being inside of a nation.
You may not claim townblocks that are disconnected from the rest of the town claims with normal claim chunks. In order to do this, you will need to claim a special town outpost claim, which costs 320 gold, using /t claim outpost
.
Inviting Residents
To increase your maximum claimblock count, you must invite more residents to your town. You may invite any online player who does not currently reside inside of a town to your town by using /t add <name>
.
Players may also join your town if it is openless inviting. If you want this enabled, use /t toggle open
. This will allow players to use /t join <yourtown>
, regardless of if you are online to invite them or not.
Town Ranks
You may assign ranks to residents which grant them more permissions that they can use throughout your town. By default, a resident can not change, break, or add any blocks to any plot that they do not own inside of your town.
To give someone a rank inside of your town, you must use the /t rank add <name> <rank>
command. A list of ranks, sorted by most to least permissions, is below.
Councilor
All of the same permissions as a mayor, without being able to delete the town or change the mayor.
Assistant
May claim land, invite players, manage plots, use /tfly, outlaw, and assign helper or builder ranks.
Builder
May build in plots not owned by an individual, and use /tfly.
Treasurer
May deposit or withdraw money, and view the town's bankhistory.
Helper
May invite players to a town
Guard
May guard a town during a town siege
Taxes
You may tax individuals inside of your town using /t set taxes %
. This will charge every person in your town a percentage of their balance every towny day.
You may also charge flat taxes, or a set number of gold each day. To toggle this, use /t toggle taxpercent
. If a resident can not pay the tax, they will be kicked from the town.
Plots can also be taxed using /t set plottax $
, which taxes money for every plot a resident owns.
