Project Freedom gives its players the ability to create their very own ships and sail them across bodies of water utilizing a popular plugin called Movecraft.
This document will provide information on how to set up a Movecraft ship, how to use a Movecraft Ship, and the types of Movecraft ships. It is recommended to use the sidebar to navigate this page.
Movecraft ships can additionally have cannons aboard. Please view the cannons section of the PFDocs to learn more.
To create a Movecraft ship, you first must know the type of ship that you plan on using. There are several different ship types, each with their own necessities for allowing a craft to be movable. Each ship type has different tradeoffs, typically exchanging size and the number of armaments for speed.
It is generally recommended that you pre-design your ship prior to building to ensure that it fits the requirements, and you do not have to change anything after building. For this, you can use our complementary Creative Server.
For learning how to make your ship movable, please refer to the Usage section.
There are 3 main ways to move your Movecraft ship. These are by using signs, commands, and by direct control (which is similar to using commands).
The easiest, and recommended way, is by using signs on your ship. To use signs to move your ship, it consists of 4 different signs. The ship type, Helm, Cruise, and Release signs.
First, you need to pilot your ship. To do this, you need to place a sign that has the ship type of your ship.
By right-clicking on this sign, assuming you have your craft set up correctly, a message will appear stating that the craft was successfully piloted.
Next, you need to create the Helm sign. Do this by putting the text "[Helm]", regardless of ship type.
If you typed it correctly, once finished, it will appear as this:
The Helm allows you to turn your ship 90 degrees at a time. Left clicking will turn you left, and right clicking will turn you right.
Once you are done moving your ship, you will need to release it. This can be done by with a sign titled "Release".
Right clicking this sign when piloting a ship will release it from your control.
To actually move your ship, you will need one last sign entitled "Cruise: Off"
Right clicking this sign when piloting your ship will allow it to move directly forward.
Instead of using signs, you can use commands to move your Movecraft ship. This method is easier and more straight-forward than using signs, if you are able to remember the correct commands.
Similar to using signs, there are four main commands. If you see a <>
indicator, that means that there is an option you must input.
To pilot your ship, you can stand on top of the ship and use the /pilot <shiptype>
command, where <shiptype>
is one of the available ship types.
Similarly to using a helm, you can rotate your ship 90 degrees by using /rotate <left, right>
where the direction options rotate you in the coorresponding direction.
To release control of your ship, you simply type /release
.
For moving your ship in the direction it is facing, you can use the /cruise
command.

The list below is all of the ship types and their configurations. There are 4 main values.
Size, which indicates the range of blocks that are required
Speed, which indicates how many blocks the ship travels per second
Engines, which is the number of redstone blocks required to make it move
Necessary blocks, which is the percentage ranges of the total block count that must be a certain block type.
All ships have limited storage capacity. You may place up to 5% of the total ship as barrels or chests.
